RIVERSIDE, CA – It will have a mega-buffet, just like the big boys in Las Vegas. It’s got gold-plated ceramic tiles and a thousand one-armed bandits. But gamblers will be the final judge once the Agua Caliente qiu qiu online opens its polished brass doors in early April.
The $90 million Mediterranean-style casino will open on the edge of Rancho Mirage, CA, and compete with three other Indian casinos in a 45-mile stretch between Banning and Coachella in the Riverside County desert.
At the Agua Caliente Casino, tall brass doors at the front entrance will open into an atrium of rushing waterfalls and palm trees that look real. Gamblers can valet-park or pull into a four-level parking structure for 1,250 cars and use a covered walkway to protect against 120-degree summer days.
High rollers can pull handles on $ 25 slots. Gaming tables, electronic roulette and rows of Las Vegas-style slots fill the casino floor, divided into smoking and non-smoking areas.
Restaurants will include a prime steakhouse, a New York deli and casual “eclectic” dining. The casino will feature the popular buffet traditionally found in larger Las Vegas venues, only this one will have four food stations — American, Chinese, Italian and Mexican — plus a salad and dessert bar. A lounge will offer live entertainment and dancing, and a 1,000-seat auditorium will double as a bingo/concert hall for acts such as Earth, Wind & Fire and country singer Wynonna.
Outside, the landscaping will include more waterfalls, more than 50 newly planted palms and hundreds of cacti. If the outside reminds gamblers of The Mirage in Las Vegas, it’s because the casino had the same landscape architect, said Michael Lombardi, who worked as a consultant to the Agua Calientes on the bingo portion of the new casino.
The new casino will employ 830 people, bringing the tribe’s work force to 1,500. These also include jobs at the tribe’s Spa Hotel and Casino in downtown Palm Springs, CA.
Mega-Casino Hopes to Open in the Catskills
LAS VEGAS, NV – The world’s largest gaming company and a Native American tribe have applied with federal authorities to build a casino in the Catskills.
Park Place Entertainment Corp. announced March 26 that the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe filed an application with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approval of the acceptance of land into trust for the development of a $500 million Las Vegas-style resort and casino approximately 90 minutes north of New York City in Sullivan County.
The 750-room resort will include 165,000 square feet of gaming space, 15,000 square feet of meeting space, 8 restaurants and a spa.
If all goes as planned, the casino could open around 2004 or 2005.
Park Place worked closely with the tribe in the preparation of the application and has entered into a letter of agreement to develop and manage the casino for an initial term of 7 years.
Pursuant to this agreement, Park Place will receive 30% of the net cash flow from operations, commencing with the opening of the casino.
Park Place has also signed a consulting agreement to advise the tribe in operating its existing Akwesasne Mohawk casino in Hogansburg, NY.
Park Place and the tribe believe the development will be one of the top casino resorts in the country serving the vast population base of New York and the surrounding areas.
Both Park Place and the Tribe are working closely with the federal, state and local authorities in securing all the necessary regulatory approvals.
